The Hype on the H Word

You may have heard the super cool H word buzzing around a lot recently.

Hyaluronic is been thrown about left right and center and all for good reason! Unlike most skin stripping skincare ingredients, Hyaluronic does the absolute opposite and locks in all the good old nourishment that your skin craves.

Hydrated Skin

What is Hyaluronic I hear you ask?

Let me shine a light onto the lovely little acid and let you know :

  • Even though it is called an Acid it is really far from it
  • Hyaluronic is a powerful gel-like water-holding molecule... In other words, it's a hydration powerhouse!
  • Hyaluronic can help hold over 1000x ITS WEIGHT in water within your skin cells, this makes it the perfect skin ingredient for those with dry skin or dehydrated skin
  • Hyaluronic is a humectant which means it can keep grab hold of moisture and retain it

But wait, there's more...

Hyaluronic has also shown to be super helpful in aiding anti-aging concerns as well as fighting off free radicals, producing collagen and maintaining skin elasticity.

Still not convinced?

Some more reasons why you may need some hyaluronic in your life...

As the colder days approach our skin becomes more sensitive and fragile as well as dry, due to climate change.

When our skin is dry it becomes weak and more prone to damage. Using a serum or moisturiser with hyaluronic can help repair the skin as well as obviously moisturise and protect the outer layers of your skin. This makes hyaluronic the perfect shield for the precious skin!

To prevent dry and damaged skin this winter stock up on some products with hyaluronic (look for at least 1% or up to make the most out of it all!)

As you may know, serums do the most for our skin, a serum will always be more concentrated to our skincare concerns which makes it the most essential part of our routine with fixing our skin issues. Serums tend to be a lot more concentrated but in a thinner consistency making it a good base for the moisturiser to sit on and hold in.

Layer your acids:

Starting with a hyaluronic based toner or facial spray, hydrate your face and let it sit a while. Next, apply your hyaluronic serum and wait for it to sink in, finish off with a moisturiser (bonus points for hyaluronic one!) and lock in all the skincare goodness... I can assure that these three simple steps will prevent dry skin this winter.

I personally love to spoil my skin to a sheet mask a few times a week, lean towards one with hyaluronic so that you can repair and protect your skin while feeding it all the hydration in the world!

Tip: look out for HA in your skincare items to create a foolproof protective moisture kit for your skin!

Hyaluronic is one of the most gentle skincare ingredients around and can really do you no damage... We only share the very best here and hyaluronic is the way to go. Treat your skin to a punch of hydration and banish dull dry skin with your upgraded hyaluronic skin kit! You'll be saying hello to plump glowing skin in no time.

Hi, I’m Sheema and I am a skincare and lifestyle blogger based in the UK, I am a self-proclaimed skincare freak and I take no shame in it. I love my face masks and sheet masks and I am guilty of masking probably every 2 days! Whoops!

I love introducing people to skincare, especially those around me who haven’t the foggiest about the most basic skin essentials and turning them into little skincareaholics like myself!

Hiya Jenny!

Yes actually there’s quite a few. Usually I like to buy toners and serums w hyaluronic as they work the best with me! I love The Ordinary hyaluronic serum, it’s very affordable and effective. I’m also a huge fan of the Dr Wu hyaluronic range… It’s very very good and not too pricey!

Thank you for the kind words. Hope you find your hyaluronic hero!!!

Hi Sheema,
I enjoyed reading this blog of yours. Are there any good Hyaluronic serums that you recommend that don’t really burn a hole in your purse?

Thanks
